Description
The predecessor cooperatives of the Gemeinnützige Wohnungsgenossenschaft Gartenstadt-Kolonie Reform eG (Non-profit housing association Gartenstadt-Kolonie Reform eG) were founded in 1909: the "Gartenstadt Colony Reform", the building cooperative "Gartenstadt Hopfengarten" and the "Bauverein der Grusonwerk-Beamten". The idea of founding their own cooperative came from workers at the Krupp-Gruson factory who were enthusiastic about the German garden city movement. In the GDR, most of the inventory was preserved, and in 1975 the GWG Reform eG, which still exists today, was founded.
