The Killester Garden Village in Dublin 5 in Dublin, Ireland, is the largest Irish WW1 ex-servicemen housing estate in Ireland with a total of 289 houses. The estate was built in the vision and concept of the 'Garden City' , this purposely done to assit in the recovery and wellbeing of the returning WW1 ex-servicemen who settled in the Killester Garden Village. The estate was built between 1920-1923 by both British and Irish administrations. The estate was then maintained and administrated by the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust from 1924. The estate is a low density, semi rural area with mainly bungalows which are high quality with large gardens. The estate also has its own train station, bus route, shops and a community centre in the heart of the estate known as the Legion Hall locally.
