General description

Meadowridge is, after Pinelands, the second garden city in South Africa and is located in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. Garden Cities began building houses in Meadowridge in 1954 and it was officially opened on the 23rd of March 1955. The development was completed in 1969 with over 600 houses with green paths connecting the tree lined leafy streets.

Special Stories

Meadowridge has an 8-acre (20-hectare reserve) known as the Meadowridge Common. The Cape Flats Fynbos is found here, a plant species that is threatened with extinction. The endangered Cape Rain Frog (Breviceps gibbosus) is also one of the many small animals which has been sighted in the Meadowridge Common.
