Description
In all garden cities, the aim was to promote the sense of community among the residents. This goal was also of particular importance for the Fritz Schumacher estate in Hamburg-Langenhorn.
The Siedlerverein Langenhorn (Langenhorn Settlers' Association) was founded in 1920 by the first tenants of the settlement. In 1952 the name became Gemeinschaft der Fritz-Schumacher-Siedlung Langenhorn e.V. (Community of the Fritz-Schumacher-Siedlung Langenhorn eV).
The association not only had the task of representing the tenants to the landlord, but also promoting the sense of community among the settlers with their own local newspaper, withfestivals and block wagon parades. These festivals and events are still organized today by various committees.
The press committee of the Fritz-Schumacher-Siedlung community alos published the Langenhorner Heimatblatt De Börner, which was first published in March 1921 and is now published monthly with a circulation of around 3,300 copies.
