Description
The Historisch Centrum Amsterdam-Noord (Historical Center Amsterdam North, or HCAN) is a foundation, whose aim it is to make the ancient and more recent history of Amsterdam-Noord accessible to a wide audience. We finance our premises and activities with a subsidy from the Amsterdam-Noord district council and the voluntary contributions of our friends and donors. In 2024, HCAN will have existed for 40 years. In 1984, the young Amsterdam-Noord district council felt that more attention should be paid to the history of Noord.
