Description
Museum Amsterdam Noord is an accessible museum that connects old and new Northerners and past and present through stories about themes not only in the past, but also now in North.
Museum Amsterdam Noord is located in the former bathhouse of Vogeldorp. One of the first garden villages in Amsterdam Noord, built in 1919. After World War I, there was a great housing shortage and it was decided to build the emergency villages Disteldorp and Vogeldorp and the Van der Pekbuurt. At that time, (workers') houses were not yet equipped with sanitary facilities. Amsterdam had twenty-one bathhouses. Badhuis Vogeldorp was one of them. It was closed in 1986. After it was sold to Stadsherstel, it was restored and since 2009, this former bathhouse houses Museum Amsterdam Noord.
